About Us

At The Playhouse, our values shape everything we do. We believe in creating a warm, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels safe, respected, and celebrated. We value emotional wellbeing, curiosity, and individuality — encouraging children to explore at their own pace and grow with confidence. Strong partnerships with families are central to our ethos, and we welcome open communication, shared learning, and mutual trust. Our team is committed to kindness, creativity, and continuous reflection, ensuring that each child’s journey is filled with joy, discovery, and a deep sense of belonging.

At The Playhouse, we nurture happy, healthy children who grow with confidence and curiosity. We support every child to reach their full potential, no matter their starting point or abilities. By appreciating the small moments, giving them time, and celebrating each achievement, we help children feel valued, unique, and build their self-worth.

The Hygge approach in early years education creates a warm, calm, and nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and free to explore at their own pace. Inspired by Danish principles of comfort and wellbeing, it emphasizes cosy spaces, nature-based play, and appreciation of simple everyday moments. By fostering emotional security and encouraging child-led learning, Hygge supports confidence, creativity, and a deep sense of self-worth.

Our Story

At The Playhouse, we’re more than an early years setting—we’re a family dedicated to nurturing and developing young minds.
We began as a small childminding service in our own home, caring for just a handful of children with love and dedication. As the director shares, “I opened my childminding service to be able to be there for my own children and help other families—giving them a warm and loving environment that was flexible to the families that came to me and they all continued their journey with us at the nursery, I am forever grateful.” As word spread and demand grew, so did we—until it became clear that it was time to take the next step. That’s when we opened our home-from-home nursery, designed to offer the same warmth and personal touch, but with the space and resources to support even more children on their early learning journey.
Today, we’re proud to be the go-to provider of early years care in the local area.
